• C2-A Plug

Has any one dare try to pull out any unused wires from there C2-A plugs. Iv'e got the omega tek board w/the expander just wanted to elimanate wires in the wireway and if I ever had to rewire a C2-A (heaven forbid that should ever happen ) then I wouldn't have to spend time on wires that arn't used.
There is always more to life, but would someone tell me what it is!

If it isn't broken, don't fix it!!!
Pinspotters do not break down when they are not running!

Re: C2-A Plug

If you know what you're doing, I don't see a big problem in removing redundant pins. But knowing what you're doing is an important caveat.

We still use the table cable for pin detection, but we don't have pindication, so we removed all but 2 gripper switch wires (that's 8 less wires) in the chassis, the C2A plug, the wireway and the table cable (we don't have table cable plugs on the table either, but they were removed years ago before I got here). Note we kept two wires eventhough only 1 is required for redundancy in case one breaks. Our respot wireways only have one wire daisy chained to each cell.

But be aware that every centre is different and depending on your existing wiring (which might not be standard) and your ancillary equipment, you shouldn't just go removing stuff unless you're sure it's not required. I guess you could test removing something by pulling out the chassis-side pin, taping it up and trying it out.

There are few others that can be removed, but if you needed to keep all of your cell wires, then I don't think it's worth removing just a couple of wires. We were able to remove around 12 wires from c2a and c1, so we thought it was worth it. Removing just 1 or 2 would probably not be.

Andrew.
