  • S.S. MOTOR CONTACTORS

The other day I had a contactor that started running by itself. The cent. mech. shattered and shorted out the unit. Any way, the unit was less than a year old so I gave Bowltronics a call to see about getting the thing fixed. Well, after talking with Rick was I suprised. Someone out there is making an exact clone of the Bowltronics contactor, trace for trace and part for part. Unless you know what your looking for, you would asume it was the real thing. BT will not fix these things or asume any liability for them also. So be warned. If you don't know what you have compare a known BT unit with the one in question. Look carefully at the parts and the board and see the differences. The latest version that BT makes is on a green board and all of their units have the Bowltronics sticker attached to them. From what has happened your best off staying with the original and the best. I know who I got the four of them from but I will not say who for obvious reasons. As for service on any of their products, contactors, start switches, triggering BT is great. No questions, if it's bad it's fixed and your out the door with a good unit. I'm lucky in that I'm only 20 minutes from their shop, but the service is great.

Right on Jerry! What are they gonna sue for? Seems to me they should be liable for counterfeiting someone elses genuine, and I might add, great product.

Maybe the company he bought them from doesn't know they are selling a bogus product.

Come on AMFDOCTOR let us have it. Also do all of us a favor and post the address of BT so we will be sure to get the genuine parts!

Omega tek had their MK-70 ripped off a while ago...never did find out if he won the lawsuit. The guy who copied his design changed the part designations (ie: U1 = U2 on copied board). The board worked OK, but MAN was Jim Hudson P-O'd and rightfully so! They guy who copied the MK-70 also had 'em made in the Netherlands....SUX when someone rips you off! Re: S.S. MOTOR CONTACTORS

Well here I am once again and here's what happened to me. I sent in two MP chassis for repair and when the new chassis came in, both of them had the rip off contactors in them, table and sweep. They were sent in to Magic Score repair in Mechanicsburg, OH. As for the info on Bowltronics it's as follows:
                  Bowltronics Enterprises Inc.
                  1115 Sherwood Ave.
                  Elgin, Illinois 60120
                  800-346-3153
                  <a href="http://www.bowl-tronics.com" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.bowl-tronics.com" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.bowl-tronics.com" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.bowl-tronics.com" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.bowl-tronics.com" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.bowl-tronics.com" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.bowl-tronics.com" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.bowl-tronics.com" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.bowl-tronics.com" target="_blank"><a href="http://www.bowl-tronics.com" target="_blank">http://www.bowl-tronics.com</a></a></a></a></a></a></a></a></a></a>
If you call them, ask for Rick and tell him you heard about the counterfit stuff on Bowltech. I'm sure that he would appreciate the input.

                      Re: S.S. MOTOR CONTACTORS

The rip off of the Omega Tek was marketed by R.J. Lynch in N.Y. (I believe). Jim Hudson's head would start to explode if you mentioned that board..I don't blame him, though. The rip off board was blue and identical to the original MK70. I'll have to aee if I can get the patent numbers for the board &amp; chassis.

Thats where the boards were actually assembled from what I have heard. They say Netherlands on them, I assume that was to avoid patent or copyright laws??
