  • Sweep Jam

    Hi guys.

i am just trying to sort out a problem here, on lane 13 there is a funny problem with the sweep, like as it comes down on the first sweep of each frame, it will go in half way, jam, and then 10 secs later it will carry on doing its job.
Now i think that the problem is to do with the Breaking system, as if like something is sticking and should be oilied up?
    appreciate any feedback :p

        Re: Sweep Jam

could be a bad cam switch or the sweep cams need adjusting.

Definitely start with the cams and switches... it's easy enough, and that sounds like you might have an intermittent timing problem. Possibly TB or SC has a problem. Interlock isn't a nonreversible condition... if the sweep or table get out of the way fast enough, the machine can keep running. If one of the switches is 'bumped' during a cycle, it can cause a hang like that. Dirty switch contacts can do that, too.

          Keep us posted...

Well, it has been doing it for some time without us noticing, there is wear where the pins have been scraping the sweep.

i am with GMan143, cam switches or settings or springs on cam switches.sometimes people screw the TB right out so that the interlock is bypassed.

I'm still not sure if he's working on a 30 or a70. The way it was decribed it sounds like a frankstien mix of both.

                          Hookbowler:

If you have an 82-70 pinspotter, you need to read how to adjust the sweep cams. Sounds like the right cam (10 pin side which has two cams together} has moved on the shaft. You need to loosen the jam bolt and rotate the cam backwards. (the top of the cam will be moving towards the rear of the machine)

Make sure that you unplug the sweep motor before you do any adjustments. Rotate the cam 1/4 inch at a time until the sweep softly rests above the pindeck. This is called first guard position.

Let us know how it turns out.
