i have a national combo motor that i found on a shelf. i went to see if it would work well it does ,but it is running in rev .i checked the wiring and it seems fine. not sure what wires to change to fix this. also it has a electronic switch on it and that is wired up fine also.

    Re: national motor combo

Ihave seen motors that, if they have trouble starting at 1st, they start up in reverse. (we have one on a power lift right now, I think the cap is fried) interesting...not much to a national, I wonder if there is some short in the windings somewhere...I am a westinghouse man myself...lol

      Re: national motor combo

National backend motors are not reversible... there are LH and RH varieties. If you put a LH motor on a RH gearbox, it will run in reverse (and take apart the distributor clutch if you installed it like that).

National table/sweep drive motors are reversible, but can be miswired in the plug, and will run opposite.

        Re: national motor combo

To reverse it, you need to swap the start winding wires around inside the motor (on the plug or on the terminal board).

The start winding wires are connected to pins Y and Z on the plug (the letters are molded onto the back of the plug).

if you put the small pin in the upper left corner, you can count around (starting with the upper right ) clockwise x y z thats how i remember it.
