  • no short strike cycle

Hi guys, back again with another head scratcher on my part!

I have one lane that does'nt want to run thru it's short strike cycle.

    heres what i tried....

    1. Changed Chassis
    2. Checked table and sweep cams
    3. Checked camera parameters
    4. Swapped LED boards from masking unit
    5. Changed cable assy from Chassis to LED board

the problem went away for a few hours and then came back again.... After a strike, the table feels for pins, sweep runs thru, and then goes to second ball. I've tried everything i could think of HELP!!

          Re: no short strike cycle

Apparently i'm having a problem similar to BAM BAM but not exactly the same, for i have no strike cycle at all when they are bowling. I can cycle the machine all day long from the control panel and it works fine, but as soon as someone bowls a strike..... you get the picture. But reading deeper into BAM BAM's problem, i will have my night guy check the pin curtain and inside the machine for shiny spots. i'll keep ya'll informed.

Knowing if it does a 7/10 pick-off, gutter ball sweep reverse properly will help the fellows figure it out for you.

Have you changed the XLMP box if you have it?

                  Re: no short strike cycle

ok, heres the scoop, no strike, no gutter pause, no 7-10 pick-off. just noticed this moring that there is no ball indicator lights on when the machine is in second ball, but the first ball light is on when the machine is at first ball.

it doesnt score a strike, but it does score on second ball...spares and whatnot

                    Re: no short strike cycle

the XLMP box, is that the large white box that all the com lines and such run into? or is it the small box where the expander cards plug into?

                      Re: no short strike cycle

Apparently this problem is going to take some research...but its working correctly for now.

I switched the LED boards around again on the same pair (15&16) and the problem went away, strike, 7-10, sweep reverse all seem to be functioning properly and the ball indicator lights are working again! beats me as to whats going on, but i'll try to figure out whats going on and post the results. Thank you all for your input.

                        Re: no short strike cycle

XLMP is the small black module that should be mounted on the curtain wall.

Also, machine type at the front desk setup. 70SS vs 70 MP. If it's only one lane, watch the LEDs on the omega tech bd to see if it's getting the right count - and when.

                            Re: no short strike cycle

We don't short cycle any of our machines...keeps the leagues drinking more. We also run 19 pins per spotter. It's 7 seconds for the rack to set after a strike.

                              Re: no short strike cycle

If you have expanders, it's a longshot, but if you still have your table cables installed, a signal from a respot cell wire will override the scoring and force the machine into a normal 1st ball cycle. A short in the TS connectors (like a screw, metal piece, wire, etc...) will cause a false read and stop it from running short strike.
