These are ss with expanders and table wiring removed and 12 strike scoring. I have not seen it happen but when the machine is cycled, the sweep will drop to 90 and it will immediately shuttle and spot on top of standing pins. I don't for sure if it does it from the mechanic's control box or when the ball goes thru the ball detect. I have not been there yet but will tonite. Bad ground in chassis? tac board terminal loose? cluster cams not changing logic? Please help!! Bill
Yeah but, We've always done it that way.

Sounds to me like a shorted SP relay or a bad PCB. The SP relay can develop a carbon trail that will short it out, or the contacts are fused together.

      Re: 10 on 10

Does the sweep run through like a normal strike cycle?? or drop to 1st guard and table spots?? does the sweep return to 0 after it tries to spot? If the sweep does not run through the deck b4 table spots, might be solenoid firing early (sweep should then stay at guard, as it will get an oor signal) or maybe even mechanical in nature, but that would be wierd on 2 seperate lanes. Have you moved chassis then expanders to isolate problem??

Do you have the green wire from the expander connector (6 pin) connected to the YELLOW wire on the sweep contactor? If it is on the wrong terminal that will cause this problem too. I just saw it happen last week with that scenario.

Change the chassis to eliminate it (including board and SP relay).

Check whether the spotting linkage is stuck in the engaged position (due possibly to broken spring or a bind).
