  • table trouble

82-70's,BOSS scoring,XOP's.I have a problem with a machine. 1st ball, sweep down-table begins to drop like normal and as soon as "TB" opens, table stops. Tried running table with TA1 and it stops again when TB opens.I can run table with the relay. I have changed chassis and problem remains.I "combed" the entire wireway looking for loose wires, debris, ect. I checked C-1 pins,C-2 A pins, replaced a few suspect ones, but problem still exists.I have also checked cam adjustments for sweep and table cams and they are all good. All this happens on either 1st or 2nd ball cycle. I need to say that after I "fixed" TB so that it can't open(moved finger away from cam)the machine runs fine. What am I overlooking? What if any other info would help with a remedy?

Sounds like SC switch is bad or out of adj.

      Re: table trouble

I called that a false interlock. I just turn the sc screw in 1/4 to 1/2 turn. gets rid of it. Some time the sweep drift just enough to ingage the sweep. My normal adjustment is like the book plus and extra 1/4 turn on the sc. got rid of all false interlock

        Agree with other posters.

Next time it happens, try pressing in the SC micro switch with your finger. If it still doesn't work, check wires on back of SC and running back to wireway. There should be continuitiy between TSG-1 and TSA-1 while at least one of TB and SC are closed ('in').

          Re: table trouble

I want to thank you guys for the replies. I changed SC switch, checked adjustment, exaggerated some adjustments to maybe find the happy spot, but never found one. Then I checked continuity through all the varius wires associated with TB and SC,however, after reading Andrew's post,I still need to make sure that SC is not opening on me.

              Re: table trouble

Make sure the lobe of the cam on TA1 and TB are`nt worn.
There is only 5 degrees difference on adjustment of these two cams so if there is any wear then it could cause the fault you describe.
              Good luck!

                Re: table trouble

Triforce - I don't quite understand what you mean. Did you really mean TA2 and TB?

I2narow - The cam spring could be dodgy or something else might be physically preventing SC closure. That's why I suggested manually pushing the SC switch with your finger - that would eliminate the cam and lever operation.

If the sweep is overrunning past 66, both sweep and table would run together - I'm assuming you'd notice that (but I thought I'd ask just in case).

Do you have a C2A tester? - it could help too.

                    Re: table trouble

I haven't had a chance to get back to the machine in question. Hopefully,I will be able to work on it tomorrow. There are some good ideas here for me to follow up on,so thanks for the replies and I will report any progress.

                      Re: table trouble

Honestly I would get the cam guage, and go throught the gap settings to start... then set the cam positions... that would be my 1st step.
