  • Too high, or too low?

A center I am doing some work for, has 82-70 XLI's, and there is one slight issue. Either the pit carpet assembly is too low, or the plows are too high. I can get my hand under a plow, and go all the way to my wrist. Pins just sit at the plows, and sometimes, right where the rear roller meets the plows in the middle. Anyone know what I should do?

Thats odd... The front and rear roller supports mount to the metal kickbacks. the plow cross beam, and both plows mount to the same kickbacks. Unelss holes were misdrilled, raising or lowering the machine should raise and lower botht he plows and the pit at the same time..... Never heard of this happening...

Is it at both sides or only one side?
Check if your rear roller bearing is in it's slot. Otherwise there are new holes drilled, or the mounting plates have been welded in a highr position, I think. Try to replace them with another machine and see what happens.

I just thought about the mounting plate(where both plough's are mounted on at the bottom) that goes from left to right steel machine plate.
If this is mounted to high from the ground than both plough's are to high also.

Loosen all bolts on rear of plows and push down to leave small clearance between carpet and plow and if necessary place washers between back end support brackets and plow at each side to allow the whole piece to go lower.

          Well this is a first.

We all from time to time have one of those “wow I’ve never seen THAT before” moments. Well today was one of those for me when my night tech texts me to say lane 16 is out...
