  • 1st pivot bearing failure

3rd season and today broke our first pivot bearing. no sign of wear.. just broke. Not the most fun fishing the chain out of the tube... but got it out! Thanks to everyone here for the tips on how to get back up and running!

Happened to us, too. This was indeed a resource that aided me in coming up with a likely cause: Left side main table chain stretched too much before the adjustment was made.

We used a hanger to fish it out, although if the magnet was just a little stronger it would have worked.

Also, the shock was destroyed. The spring broke and the piston bent 45°.

To make things easier in the future, I put a wire tie on the first link of chain next to the pivot bearing. In case of pivot bearing failure, the wire tie will stop the chain from going down into the tube.
