  • GSX accelerator removal

Anyone have a procedure for removing the accelerator on GSX? I have a belt starting to come apart and want to get this changed before the season starts.

    Thanks, billman

Some of them can be pretty "tight" to remove. You need to remove the pin defectors and ball doors. Unplug the molex cables and acc plug and remove all bolts holding/hardware holding it and it should pull out. However be very carfeul you dont catch the reed switches and the top of the ball doors when removing the accelerator.

If you have the newer style remove the 4 bolts(2 each side of Accelerator box) at the rear of the accelerator box and unplug both locking bolts and the BA plug and pull out of the rear, there are 2 pins in the front that the front of the accelerator slides on. Some of them can be a little tough to get out.
For Sale, Parachute. Only used once, never opened, small stain.

also mark on the tension bolt on top where the jam nuts are. this way you have a good starting point for belt tracking purposes.

On our 2 year old GS-X install the accelerators are a real pain to remove and reinstall. Apparantly Brunswick changed the type/quality of wood used in the kickbacks and it expended more from moisture in the air then they expected. I know of places they had to use a hydrulic porta power to remove an accelerator ..... fun times!

Jesus, that would explain why I had a lot of trouble getting them out as they were really tight.

Just a quick note to add here. We changed our accelerator service to last month so being winter the kickbacks didnt expand so much from the moisture in the air and they came out much easier
