  • GSX and scoring

If GSX is used with something like Qubica for scoring, does the machine still have to check for pins after the second ball is thrown, or can that be eliminated?

We don't have anything this modern at our bowling center, but I always hope they'll junk the old stuff for something new like newer AMF or Brunswick, but was taken by surprise at USBC nationals that the machine has to check for pins after the second ball.

If you have cameras or scanners with the scoring then they would not need to check for standing pins after second ball. When the machine is used for scoring then it would need to check for pins after second ball.
For Sale, Parachute. Only used once, never opened, small stain.

Did you bowl, how did you do?

Expanding on what sbrooks said, the GSX has two 'modes' in this case, a 'single detect' and a 'double detect'.

Single detect is used when the pinsetter itself is not used for scoring but instead an external scoring device such as a camera is. The single detect refers to the fact that the table only detects for standing pins on 1st ball and does not on 2nd ball.

Double detect is used when the pinsetter itself is used for scoring. Double detect refers to the fact the the table has to detect standing pins on both cycles in order to score.

Thanks for explaining this - I knew I could get the answer on this site!

As for bowling in Baton Rouge, I think we did well in the team event and may have won some money. The singles and doubles, not so much.
