  • GS-X Table Home Position Question

I couldn't find anything here about the question I have. I bowled the Baton Rouge Nationals recently and noticed that on the GS-Xs they were using, the sweep would go back up with the table as normal, but then it would fall back down slowly about 2-3 inches after the cycle. So basically you could see the sweep hanging down below the masking unit. I asked a buddy about it and he said that he's actually heard about this and that it's intentional, but he's not sure how it's done. He said that houses will do this so that the machine will double load every pin, not just the 7 and 10 pins, and in turn, making the machine slightly faster for spotting. Is this true? Has anyone heard about this? I was thinking that moving the cam that triggers the switches on the cluster could be rotated slightly to change home position, but I'm not sure. Just curious.

This is true, it is intentional and the purpose of this is to speed up loading. Normally once the table reaches home and loads the pinholders the pinstations cannot be reloaded until the table goes down and the pinstations lock again. With what you saw at the end of a second ball cycle instead of the table stopping at home it goes up to home to load the pinstations then travels just a bit more, just enough to let the pinstations lock again so they can be reloaded and pins aren't travelling all over the machine.
And its not that the A switch cam has been moved its that the electronics know to intentionally stop the table just slightly past it.

I think I explained it pretty good.

Oh ok. Thanks a lot. Yeah, that makes sense. So if you're saying that the electronics know to stop the table later, then is there a setting in the nexgen or a firmware update that I can do?

Sorry, Table, but I have no additional info I can give you. Or maybe you were referring to Presh? Anyone else notice there are way too many Dave's in this business?
