  • Error 75 - G not found

Getting 75's on lane 4 every few minutes regardless of running diagnostics or score. I've already replaced the switch and gone to a spare Nexgen. It's done nothing. That leaves the wire, which i haven't gotten to yet. What strikes me as odd is that the error comes up after the sweep raises at the end of the cycle. At this point the pinsetter shouldn't be looking for the G switch anyway. Is there something else I could be missing?

Is this switch mounted in a way that is sticks in sometimes. Could be the intermittant error as it didn't open every time the sweep goes up.
On the cabling, you can try slightly squeezing the female sockets in the molex connector to make a better connection. Also, pull on each of the 4 wire ends and see if they will come out of the molex pin or socket. The other end - at the CPU - is crimped in the mini-fit connector. See which is the G switch wire and see if it can be pulled out.

Try bending the switch lever (the metal lever ) of the swith out a little it could be bent and not making closing switch.

Does it happen at the end of the first ball no strike cycle when the pins fall into the holders or randomly when the sweeps up?

Haven't had an opportunity to observe it with bowlers on it. It was happening to my boss at that time. But in diagnostics it appears to happen after setting new pins, for the mos part. Had already tried bending the arm of the switch. Was a temporary fix at best. Again the error presents itself when the switch is supposed to be open anyway.

UPDATE. Think I'm on to something. Finally got a chance to watch it for a bit in diagnostics and to my surprise the error actually showed while I was able to watch it happen. The machine set new pins and then did nothing. After a few seconds it blacked out. Seems that the machine is in fact tripping the ball detect but the sweep isn't dropping. I'm wondering if this is more of an issue where the sweep is failing to release every time and the machine is waiting for the G switch to close. Do you guys think I'm on the right track?

75 is switch expected - not found. So yes, tipper could be issue. I understood it was reporting error after it went up.
Won't hurt to double check the alignment of the trigger, but now sounds like something stiff in the tipper, or bad connection to the solenoid.

If you check the wires to the solenoid where they are taped to the linkage with a meter, or give them a slight pull apart individually, I think you may fine a wire that is broken inside of the insulation of the wire.
This happens due to the fact that the wires are bending a lot during the course of a pinsetter cycle. You will see no visible sign of it happening.

My bad. I forgot to say that you need to check for this on both sides of the plug to the solenoid. Most times it will be broken wires on the side of the plug going to the NexGen.

What beerman said. It's either a nearly completely broken wire on your left hand function cable, or possibly something physically binding the sweep release solenoid and/or assembly.

Sweep solenoid wire breaks where the outer insulation is stripped off most often, could be solenoid going bad.

I got it working. Once I finally got a chance to see it happen and take a look. Worked the sweep release assembly and it felt rough. Added oil to the assembly and it worked fine in DIAG and with bowlers. Humidity levels suck for us this time of year and labor is getting cut (notably, MY labor and the hours I get are on the counter) so PM's aren't up to speed, despite my complaints. Thanks for the tips!
