New to the GS machine

sbrooks is right, cruise through the forums here for some of the more common issues and ideas. As I have always told people working with/for me to do -- sit and watch the operation of the machine. Watch how the pins transition from one area to another; watch the table operations to see the holders, grippers, and tongs in operation. This helps tie all the book stuff together and lets you get a feel for the way a machine runs.

But of course, as with any pinsetter, safety come first. Absolutely make sure the machine is off, and unplugged before doing anything on it. Best to drop the sweep to protect yourself from "bowlers" as well.

I basicly have studied the parts manual each section to see how to get to each part. i also have watched the machine for close to 8 hours just cycling to see how each part of the machine works. then i memorized each error code and read up what they mean and how to fix it and to tear the machine down to get to the part i need to replace. i was just throwen into the gsx's and have learned a lot over the last 6 months. and this site has helped me with the hard problems.

You might inquire about on-site training. As we all know, practical knowledge isn't printed, it's learned on site - and commonly takes years to master. Preventative maintenance on a GS is one of the biggest parts of keeping them running good..

4:1 Timing off..
*sigh* Hello friends..
I had a 4:1 go bad and I've never seen or done one before. Trying to search the depths of the forums, YouTube videos, it didn't seem too bad....

Adapting the Bluffton end cap & terminal board kit to Franklin BE (and FE) motors.
Left a rant about this in the bowling forum…
I’ve already repaired a a number of Franklin FE motors using the Bluffton-style end cap and terminal board kit (090-004-582)....

Turret clutch rebuild
At what thickness do you replace the clutch face.
Is there a minimum dimension from the clutch face to the rivet.
Thanks...
