  • Sweep height adjustment

I am installing the new firmware and a few bowlers are complaining about seeing the sweep on 2nd ball. I have moved to hole 3 on the pivot bearing and it helps a little, but using hole 3 the pivot bearing almost touches the stroke limiter. The sweeps need to go higher to be hidden. Any suggestions??

    Thanks, billman

Read the reply from CTUNA from the thread below on page 5. Maybe that will help. He talks about possibly removing the pivot bearing and rotating it 180 degrees, but before I would do something that drastic I would read his comment #8.

This may be what you need to do....

      8. In this version, as the machine returns to home position (A switch) after a 1st ball non strike cycle, the table will continue past the A switch a small amount. The table lowers just far enough to allow the retaining bows on the pin stations to clear pins loaded in the pin holders thus releasing the ejector flaps to their up position. This allows pin stations resume collecting pins, thus reducing overflow. This change has been shown to reduce noise and pins in the accelerator. It also improves loading efficiency to the elevator since there are fewer pins in the pit. Be aware that when the table does drop, you may begin to see a little bit of the sweep board below the masking unit. A new function in the setup menu allows the option to “fine tune” the amount of movement the table will make. There are 5 settings 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. The smaller the number, the less the table will move past A. By default, the setting is 8.

In my opinion, the bowlers should stop complaining about the sweep .... it SHOULD not be a distraction anymore than the mask unit itself with first/second ball lights or center name logo or whatever is there...... period. I find it reassuring to see the sweep settle down a bit on 2nd ball - it lets me feel things are functioning properly.

I do have the "over travel" set to the smallest amount. I agree with Loadtoad... seeing the sweep should not be an issue but bowlers will be bowlers. lol I will try rotating the pivot bearing.

In the end, you could just make it known that if you keep messing with it the machines won't work at all.

Like when they complain the reflection of the spotting tong square shaft rotating is a distraction..... ridiculous! Anything to put the blame on something other than the bowlers themselves bowling badly as the cause.

very true about the shaft. The first week after the install, the owner had me spray paint them black!

If you have bowlers looking at the bottom of the masking units when the let go of the ball then you have serious issues.......

Still get this one....I have been told that something is broken by the customers when they see it. Depending on their (and my) mood, I'll mess with them sometimes and act like I can't see what they are talking about -- then tell them if they got strikes all the time it wouldn't show up! Usually they appreciate the humor with that.

You could tell them if something was broken it wouldn't do that.

Reversed the pivot bearing and now the sweep is barely visible. We will see if they notice!! lol

Not trying to hijack the thread, but I've thought of raising the sweeps while at the home position. Our approaches sit higher than the concourse and pits so when you first walk in the frame of the sweeps are very visible. It's totally cosmetic so it's no big thing. I was just wondering if any compensatory adjustments have to be made when raising the sweeps. Is it really worth the trouble?

tell your bowlers they need to look at the arrows not the sweep ,or just lower the masking unit .

I had a 4:1 go bad and I've never seen or done one before. Trying to search the depths of the forums, YouTube videos, it didn't seem too bad....
