  • Shocks!

Question for the GSX vets out there. A few months ago we had a pivot bearing fail and of course the table came crashing down. It took the stroke limiter shock with it. The cylinder itself is fine but it broke the threaded portion of the shaft off. Was wondering if there were individual parts available for the shocks (as well as the fluid); or is the only option to buy a whole new shaft from Brunswick?

For the GSX you have to buy new shock. The GS-10 has a shock with a overflow canister to add fluid and is rebuildable.

You can buy the parts of all three shock assemblies.

A quick e-mail to Brunswick should get you a break down sheet of part numbers.

Iso 32 or any other similar hydraulic oil will do fine.

      Here is a rebuild guide.

Thanks for posting! Sorry for being misleading with my info! My latest catalog does not list parts, and the link only has spring and oil #'s. Does someone have the needed part number for shaft? Seems silly to have to call to get these numbers.

Thanks for the info. Appears the shocks themselves are identical, with the exception of the rubber shock absorber on the stroke limiter. Doesn't appear to be a removable part either. Only other differences I see are in the hardware threaded onto the shaft, which shouldn't be an issue. Should just be able to order the two shafts (one with the rubber stopper and one without), correct? I'd hate to throw out an otherwise functional shock if I can get away with replacing the shaft.

The rubber bumper is removable and can be replaced.

Hmm...tried removing the one off the broken shaft and couldn't budge it. Although it did look like it was threaded on there somehow. If that's the case then I should be able to order shafts and be fine though. I like saving $$$.

I put the shock in vise and protect the shaft with rubber, old T-Band or other material so as not to bugger up the shaft and ruin seals, it takes a little effort but it will come off.

Part # for shock bumper is 99-070398-004

The part number for the piston\shaft is:

                  99-070396-004

There are a few differences between the three shocks. For example the pistons are all different (i.e. different part numbers), & only the stroke limiter shock has a spring in it.
