  • sweep speed

just curious as to what everyone has there sweep speed at. fast or slow? currently one of our centers has fast sweeps (d's), and alot of sweep over of pins all machines have 2 3/4'' pulleys on motor and reducer . i changed a pair to 3'' pulleys on the reducer, which did slow them down a little bit, and the machines are not sweeping over pins. im thinking of going to 3 1/2'' pulleys on the reducer to slow them more. anyone have any thoughts?

    Thanks in Advance

I thought the bigger the pulley the faster it goes?

Using the same size on both will give you the standard speed. I saw a few a while ago that had a larger sheave on the motor than on the gearbox. The sweep would bang against the masking unit as it raised on every cycle.

When I see the sweep jumping over pins it's time to silicone the pin decks again. You may also want to look at adjusting the lower sweep board or adding weight to it.

the larger pulley is on the gear box, thus slowing it down. i am adding weight to the sweeps, with one in testing now.

another problem ive noticed is the gutters next to the plate seem too deep. could this be a problem with the sweep as well?

You probably should bring the flat gutters up to spec to improve scores, but I have seen them run with tenpin flat gutters and still sweep okay.

            Turret clutch rebuild

At what thickness do you replace the clutch face.
Is there a minimum dimension from the clutch face to the rivet.
