  • candlepin and or duckpin

I live in Michigan and would love to try either one of those other 2 forms of bowling. Where is the closest center to Michigan that has either one of these?
Sometimes we have to do stuff to get by....Just go back and do it right when the "by" has passed!!

I'm not certain; but I got this from a Google search.....

It appears that there is nothing but tenpin bowling in Michigan.

candlepin is mainly in the northeast, mass, nh, maine and canada, both are fun games, candles being the hardest where 100 is considered a good game for a recreational bowler

Be careful when a center says they are a Duckpin center that's not in the Northeast. There is a center in Milwaukee that says they're Duckpin but they are actually string machines.

Yuuup! I saw that too when the center posted a video. And that's why I didn't mention it in my previous post.

I saw a string machine in Circus Circus in Las Vegas a while back. They're fun; but, you don't get to practice any skills on them. Between you and me, I believe that string machines are a rip-off.

I knew of 2 Duckpin centers in Indianappolis, but one is for sure gone. The other was in the basement of the fountain square building, you might try a search for the building. It was 7 lanes!! And at one time there were 8 more lanes on the 4th floor with Brunswick synthetics!!

Here is the link to the ones in Indy. Both floors have duckpin but appear to be on strings.

I'd say the centers in Mass are closer though you're welcome at Bayers Road Bowlarama in Halifax Nova Scotia anytime! Haha

Like I said, it has been several years since I visited the centers in Indy. Back then, they had freefall machines, Shermans as I recall. My dad made a video of the machines and interior of the Action Bowl, bujt it is on video tape.

                              *sigh* Hello friends..

I had a 4:1 go bad and I've never seen or done one before. Trying to search the depths of the forums, YouTube videos, it didn't seem too bad....
