  • Spring Tube

Servicing a spring tube assy today and found out that the new spring I have is actually 1-3/4" shorter than the old one.

Is this to be expected of the new springs now or was there some kind of manufacturing defect.

Your shorter spring might be one from an model A that had two rake return springs...

    Those were shorter...

Not sure if they were any shorter....but they were definantly smaller in diameter. phil, can you tell if the diameter of the spring is smaller, or is it just the length that is different?

Diameter is the same...Just the overall length is shorter than the original.

I don't think that 1-3/4" is a big deal.....the spring should still do its job fine I would think.....but call your distributer to see is the ones on their shelf measure the same.

Phil...is your "new" spring actually new or is it used from another machine?
