  • Detector question

The other day I was bored at work and decided to rebuild a detector that's on the shelf. Got it torn apart no problem, started cleaning/painting some parts and ran across this piece (picture below). What is the purpose of said piece and is it necessary? All the machines here at Pheasant have it, but none of them did at Twin City Lanes.

It's for the strike mercury switch. It allows the switch to lower turning the strike light on (if you have them).

If i remember correctly that was to actuate the old strike lights thet where on some older masking units.
Some detectors still have the mercury switches mounted on the side of the detector but they are not used.

So If you don't have strike lights it's not needed.
Go with what works and not what the book says.

Up until Framworx there were strike lights on the mashing units. I think the crown would light up on the gold crown units.

There was an extra selector clamped to the "c" shaft that would either allow or block the bracket the strike micro switch was mounted to via another pivoting lever on the black mounting plate attached to the side of the detector. This was so the strike light wouldn't come on in the event of an "auto strike".

I have a couple of those "strike light " kits in a locker someplace. As for the picture , looks like a blocking finger to me

These are pictures of the strike light mechanism on a machine. We don't have the strike lights anymore, just have not gotten around to taking them all off yet.

LOL...Hi Mark how are you. Paul Moser was asking about you when I went to see him.

The mercury switch would make a good reset block out switch on the rake.

At what thickness do you replace the clutch face.
Is there a minimum dimension from the clutch face to the rivet.

                      Thanks...
