  • Brunswick pit shaker mounts

I would like to rebuild the one piece shaker mounts that were discontinued by Brunswick. They are metal
    with a rubber extrusion.
Does anyone know what the specs are on the rubber extrusion are or where the material can be purchased.
I am assuming that a vise will be adequate to press the the rubber on.

??? is this an old part. The way you are descrbing it is not like anything I have seen before.

The 2 types I am familiar with are the metal brackets with the rubber mounts, or the 1 piece rubber/ urethane ones that get mounted on with bolts and spacers.

I believe Brunswick called them Torsional Pit Mounts, just 1 bolt top & bottom.

Yes they were called torsional pit mounts. I never used them but I never liked the idea. Price was prohibitive and, I figured because there was only one bolt at the top and the bottom the whole thing could twist and then it would tear itself up. Personally I prefer the metal brackets and the rubber mounts. JMO

I think I have a prefference for the 1 piece urethane mounts....I definantly have less issues with them....I know some sat that thye are problematic because they sag over time....but I hve not had issues with them and if they do sag you could always put some washers under them to raise the height of the top frame. I don't think I have every had to replace one of the 1 piece ones yet, but always have to replace quite a few rubber mounts over the year.

I prefer the standard pit mounts myself BUT have noticed that the last 2 batches I have bought, the mounts were silver, where the older ones were a gold color. These silver ones dont last for sh*t. Seems like if one breaks and you dont get it right away, then all the others start to fail as well.
I remeber the torsion mounts but never used them, way to expensive.

I tried those torsional mounts years ago. Top frame broke, changed it out, the next frame broke. I had a brand new frame on the wall. I put that in. When the brand new frame broke, I threw the torsional mounts away.

Nick, you and me both. I have never had a problem with them sagging, as long as they're properly installed; but, you are correct, they can be shimmed until they're replaced.

My biggest problem with pit frames breaking were from old frames that had been welded, usually near the weld. But, with the proper rubber strips installed where they belong, frame breakage was rare.

Brunswick still sells them. They are in the new catalog. Well the 2006 one anyway.

Thanks for replies. The torsional mount 12-300240 was discontinued due to lack of demand. Probably due to cost.
I pulled one apart and found that the rubber was a 5/16 inch hard rubber rod.

I used a couple of sets of the torsional mounts back in the 90's. Did not like them very much and they eventually fell apart after I left. I was told the mechanic did not replace them with the same style.

I have a small center i visit rarely that has 2 sets that have been on many years with no problem, i once replaced broken bolts in a couple of them. I have a set i took out of a center if anyone really wants them.
