  • Can 2cnd ball solenoid blow 1amp fuse?

Still blowing 1amp fuses. Set machine so 3rd ball 10th frame would happen, when machine came up to 0 fuse blew. I had let the machine run for a while pryer to that.
    Not sure?

If the solenoid is clicking in normally then it could be a short to ground somewhere in the loom. Cable chaffed through on metalwork?

Are you using the correct type of fuse? For inductive loads it's normally a time delay fuse to handle the inrush current to the coil. Using a quickblow fuse in place of a time delay fuse can result in rogue failure.

Those with more troubleshooting experience on that particular chassis may be able to elaborate better than I can.

In short out situations I will pull off deck light and new pins solenoid and operate pinsetter with mag clutch being the only load on that circuit. If you can run it through 10-15 cycles with no issues, then hook up deck light to circuit. repeat process of running several frame on pinsetter then finally add new pins solenoid. If fuse blows while one of these circuits are hooked up then you found your culprit. Look for obvious signs of damged/pinched wire before digging into replaceing parts. write back here and let us know what you found.

Isolate each high voltage circuit with a fuse or mini-breaker. This will determine what circuit is causing the problem.

And to answer your original question for this thread...yes it can.

          Steve,

Does the FrameWorx 2nd ball solenoid use 120volt or 220-240volts. It seems to me that I've seen 110-220-240 solenoids across different versions of Brunswick scoring over the years. But, I can't seem to remember any of them tying to the transformer voltage divider winding's. I have seen a lot of them tied to terminal 19 on the TDM to get 120volts.

It can indeed, blow the fuse. The 120 versions voltage comes from the transformer.

All of the solenoids I have seen for the NPS are 115 volts. If there is a 220 volt version...I have not seen it. If it is 220 volts...then it would not blow the fuse.

That seems to have been the problem. I disconected the solenoind from 19 on the TDM and from TS1G and the fuse does not blow anymore.
The fuse would only blow when solenoid was activated.

Most likely the solenoid is bad...but you should double check the power cable running from the electrical box to the NPS box to be sure there are no frays in the cable. Would not be good if you took the time to change the solenoid only to find the power cable was the issue.

                  MP Chassis Tester

                  Good morning,
I have built a tester for the MP Chassis for the 82-70 machines. Instead of using the cam switches
I am using relays. My question is to anyone that may...

I had a 4:1 go bad and I've never seen or done one before. Trying to search the depths of the forums, YouTube videos, it didn't seem too bad....
