  • Broken mag clutch tabs

Other then just sticking a bolt in the elevator frame hole to keep the clutch from spinning
does anyone have a better fix for this.

I have a bunch of machines that have bolts in the frame and now the bolts are cutting through the
connector on the clutch and will eventually cut through the wire.

    Thanks for any ideas guys

I've done the bolt trick but used spacers for that reason.

Steve I believe drills out the pin hole to 5/16"and uses a C.C 'J' bolt.

Nylon wire tyes, through the hole and around the wire strain relief works well. Eliminates the chaffing on the strain relief.

Along with the J bolt...I install a section of 5/16 tubing to prevent damage to the strain relief.

The vinyl tubing is a good bit of insurance. If you place a bolt and spacer in the hole where the tab should be eventually it will wear through the strain relief on the magnetic clutch, and cause a short in your clutch, and rectifier. Usually as the key way wears the clutch starts to "wobble" on the jack shaft, accelerating this wear.
