Have had an issue now that has happened about 4 or 5 times...
The deck will come back down on to the standing pins....seems as though the holding hook didn't latch the deck at the top.
All I have to do to correct the machine is to cycle it and it will be fine.
I have checked over stuff and all looks to be O K.
Are your machines running with the 90 degree over travel? It sounds like what you are describing is the machine completing it's normal 1st ball cycle, and then failing to keep the rake, and deck, raised while the machine stops at 90 degrees on 2nd ball.
When I've had that problem with an overtravel machine, it has been because the bearing on the reset lever went south. Did it all the time, however, not intermittently.
If you think my girlfriend can fight, you should see her box!
I had a recent problem on a machine (no overtravel) where the deck holding hook ended up sitting on top of the deck post pin instead of the hook dropping over the pin after the 1st ball cycle.
Then, the deck would go down again after the 2nd ball was bowled and the machine would do another 1st ball cycle (of course). Not every frame. About every 2 or 3 frames.
No-one had touched the holding hook adjustment since it was installed (probably a couple of years ago) and the machine had no problems with the hook up until when this suddenly started happening.
It was an adjustable (2 piece) deck holding hook so all I did was move the hook forward about a quarter of an inch and the problem was solved.

I have 90 dgree over travel...
Its just the deck that comes back down and sits on the standing pins.
is your clutch latch catching when the gearbox cycles back around? I'd check/watch the linkage to see if the reset lever and everything else is operating properly.
With 90 degree overtravel, the machine will travel to 90 degrees on 2nd ball...but the rake is supposed to stay up and the deck should also stay up. Since you stated that the deck is coming back down on "standing pins"...I will assume that the gear box is supposed to be on second ball and being at 90 degrees would then be normal. Since you didn't state that the rake went down...I will assume that it did not. So what you have is the deck holding hook not doing what it should be doing...not catching the pin on the deck post. Could be as simple as a deck holding hook adjustment...but I am going to bet you already looked at that. If you did...try this. The C shaft has a deck holding hook selector. The selector is held to the C shaft with a roll pin. Sometimes...someone will put a spirol pin in its place. Spirol pins can disintegrate easily and start to allow movement of the selector on the shaft. See if you can move the selector independently of the C shaft. If you can...I would replace the pin.
If the selector is in good shape and the deck holding hook adjustment is good...could be that the deck holding hook itself is bad. Have you tried changing the hook? Is it an old style single piece version?

Good morning, I have built a tester for the MP Chassis for the 82-70 machines. Instead of using the cam switches I am using relays. My question is to anyone that may...
Is anyone running the solderless relays on the accelerators? How do you like them? What brand? How difficult to convert was it? Would love the feed back as I'm about to switch...
Working...
