  • Restricted drop link adj

Hey guys, if you run out of adj on the LH finger. I put a steel sleeve over the x washer to get more adj. any other ideas?

EBN (Ed Fox) has a great adjustable replacement Bracket that replaces 12-350178-000 for the low deck restricted drop. You remove the old bracket altogether and the new one clamps on in a "U"-Bolt style. This is awesome because not only can you adjust it to raise or lower the blocking finger link, but you can also adjust it side to side for perfect alignment.

Another option is to remove the bottom bolt of the bracket...loosen the top bolt of the bracket...insert a 1/4" washer between the bracket and the deck lift shaft. Put a bolt back in place so it goes through the washer. This will shim the bottom of the bracket out causing the top of the bracket to rise. Using a spacer on the x-washer pin can cause the restricted drop to pop off of the spacer as the radius of the new spacer will no longer match the radius of the lifting point in the restricted drop.

In addition, always check the tightness of the bolt that secures the linkage to the finger before adjusting, Many times they are loose and cause the inability to get the proper clearance for the probe.

It might also be worth checking that the machine is stopping at 0 and that the deck height adjustment is adequate first.

I usually find what Roscoe is talking about and/or the shoulder bolt and hole is worn. On worn links I've drilled out the hole to accommodate a flanged oilite for the pin release lever. This one was done perhaps 7 years ago, no significant wear to speak of.

Lol. A shortage of time and staff makes it hard to be thorough with cleaning...re-building entire assemblies is out of the question (unless absolutely necessary) since leagues only break for 3 weeks, at most, during Christmas.

                Thanks for the offer though!

Than's likely the original home for the leftover parts I seem to end up with.

You can make sure the blocking finger has the rubber piece on it and also were the spring goes from the blocking finger to the back of the frame you can put at role pin in there then put the spring in there to give it more tension.

You run out of adjustment because the bracket on the deck lift shaft bends. I always take the bracket off and reinstall it upside down.
