  • No index at 4-7 spot

I have a lane that will occasionally stop at the 4 or 7 spoons. I lift the pin and drop in down and the trip lever goes down but no index. I have to touch the turret and it'll move after that.
    Any suggestions?

Try tightening your long turret belt spring. A couple turns at a time.

Check the bearing at the front of the turret to make sure it turns freely. The 4&7 spots are where the turret starts stretching out the spring for the spider to release pins after the 5 pin drops. If the bearing is froze up it will stop the turret from turning.
You don't have to be crazy to do this job...But it helps!

Would a frozen tension lever assembly for the long turret cause this also?

Also what about an unleveled turret?

A worn lower TC pulley and belt, or even worn long turret drive sheave will also contribute to the problem. Also be sure the deck chutes aren't interfering with the projection on the indexing cam.

Ok so I changed the long turret drive pulley. It was real shiny. Then I sprayed belt dressing on the short turret belt for better grip. Didn't have a problem for a full day then it happened 1 time after that.
i have no clue where to go from here. Mind screwed.

Is the short turret belt bottoming out on the lower clutch pulley?

This is a pic of a new belt on an old pulley; it shows how badly the pulley is worn.

This shows the difference between an old and new pulley. Note how the center of the old pulley on the left is shiny. This means the belt in no longer being driven by the 'V' of the pulley....which will need a great deal of extra tension to drive the belt..

This shows the difference between a new and old belt.

It's always best to replace the pulley and belt together. If there's any paint on the new pulley, you'd best remove it as it can prevent the pulley from properly driving the belt. I also stick to the OEM belt here because of the woven fibres in it to increase traction. It's much the same as the OEM pit conveyor drive belt; both I only get from Brunswick.

Is the turret suppose to go clockwise a bit when it gets to the 4 and 7 wires? Mine goes clockwise a bit when it gets to that. I'm thinking this is what's causing the problem somehow. I loosened the tension on the spider release spring on the front of the turret. Took the short and long turret belt off to see if I could feel anything and when I get to the 4 spot it wants to spring clockwise. It has pretty good pressure almost turns back to the 2 spot.

If the turret wants to turn backwards, two things come to mind. 1. Not enough tension on the long turret. 2. Too much tension on the spider release spring.
At the 4 pin the spider release is just starting up the high of the cam, so it wants to walk backwards to go back down the cam. This can be fixed by either loosening the spider release spring or tightening the spring on the long turret belt.

One thing that I have learned over the years is that when a machine seems to be getting the better of me, is that the best thing to do is step back, take a deep breath, have a cup of coffee or whatever your beverage of choice might be, and mull it over a little bit.
With most things like this, there are only so many things that could be causing the problem. Walk through them in your head, get out your manual, and look it over. More often than not the answer is going to present itself.
Also ALWAYS remember the KISS theory. Keep It Simple S(fill in your own word for the last S). The simplest answer is usually the correct one.
