  • Zot LED 1st and 2nd ball light upgrade

We are going to install Zot LED kit on our 1st and 2nd ball lights. We installed a kit on 1 lane and the 1st ball light wants to stay on with the machine turned off. Anyone else ran into this issue?

I'm just going on a hunch; but, I believe that you may have run the wire that supplies power to the circuit to the wrong side of the motor start relay. When the master circuit breaker is on, power is supplied to the transformer; which, in turn, supplies power to all of the control circuits, including the MSR. When a desk switch (for example) is turned on, the MSR closes to supply power to the motor, including the cross conveyor circuit, deck light, etc.

If the pin light system requires a low (24VAC) voltage, I would connect the circuit to the same wire that controls the ball booster/accelerator. This will, in essence, turn the ball light circuit on and off with the booster/accelerator. Someone else may have an easier way to do it.

Is it both ball lights or just the 1st ball light. I had problems with both 1&2 when I replaced them if I didn't wire in the resistor that was in the package with them. Not really "on" but a dim yet noticeable glow
All I want in life is to turn wrenches and climb around pinsetters/pinspotters again :/

The circuit is back feeding though time delay module.... because the TDM is powered as long as the transformer is on. You can move wire from TDM terminal #14 that goes to TS2 #9 and move it to TS2 #1 now the time delay only has power when pinsetter is on. This worked in our centers.

These are Japs w/ Bruns trigger boards, but i see your point, and think it will work. Toms idea in essence is the same thing. Will be down there Fri and try this .

Thanks for tip Masternut, was able to switch that wire easily on the motor start relay, plus have to use furnished resistors on both bulbs and bingo, we have it shut off completely. Thanks for all ideas!

Got all of our bulbs yesterday and installed the 2nd lane. My question now is the resistors get very hot, i wouldn't want to touch one for more than a second. Is this normal? Voltage at the center is relatively high at 28 volts. Anyone with experience with these bulbs have any input?

Ours do as well. VERY hot. Doesn't seem to cause any issues though. We've lost 2 in about a year and a half which ZOT replaced at no charge

                      28 volts sounds high.

I was thinking the same thing Alex ball lights normally run 20V-23V.

I've seen electrical boxes where the wrong transformer lead was going to TS2-4 shooting almost 30V to the ball lights.

                        Maybe something to check.

Read your input voltage to the pinsetter and post.

Also see what color wire is going to TS2-4, TS2-6 and if you have a wire that is taped off.

Didn't have much time due to tourn shift coming in. Forgot to check AP input voltage, Am getting 28.65 on 6 & 9, and 24.2 on 4 & 9. These are Japs, all gray wires bundled and didn,t have time to follow them, will have to wait til next Fri.
