  • Moving deck issue.

    I can manually turn the rear right pulley with a pry bar to get the deck to the proper position on 0. Deck sets pins, detects and lifts pins on first ball cycle. On second ball cycle, rake removes standing pins, turret drops a full deck, deck drops down to set a fresh rack, moving deck doesn't move, and lifts the full rack.

    Adjustment #18 page 3-23 of pinsetter manual. If you don't have manual, you can download from the technical forum.

        If the deck is not forward all the way at 0...it sounds like the cable adjustment

          Have you checked your Moving deck cam follower shaft?
          It may be broken away from the gearbox.
          Go with what works and not what the book says.

            maybe a frayed cable? in the tube and you can't really see it. I have also seen the cable come off the back pulley and lock everything up.

              YIKES!!! That's a good way to break something important.

              First you say that the deck sets a full set of pins; then, you say that the deck brings the pins up instead of setting them. So, is this a constant problem or intermittent?

                Was a constant problem it is fixed now... The problem was honestly really stupid and I should have seen it within the first few mins. Thanks for everyone's input and Tom I believe he meant 180 not 0 and the pry bar with only slight force is what I was taught for that situation. He wasn't going excessive trying to break the thing just enough to get the pulley to snap back so the deck would move.

                    This is a learning place. Would be nice to know the final solution. As far being stupid we have all been there.

                      Sorry I was typing fast last night after fixing it before close and forgot to say what I can honestly say was my worst "blonde moment". When searching the moving deck for anything that could have been holding it up I completely missed the back of the one pincup whose bolt decided to somehow lose its washer, lockwasher, And its nut. It ended up falling down through at the right time to bend in a 90 degree angle and bump against the stationary deck just enough to hold it from moving. Sorry for not putting this in my first reply.

                          Yet another reason I dislike posting on here, don't get me wrong I love the help you guys provide even more so being almost completely self-taught. But I dislike not being able to say one wrong word/part name without being corrected in the next post with little to no real input on the problem/solution. I see no possible way someone could not find out what I meant by saying "pin cup" instead of "deck chute". Before it is said I know coachlon said it jokingly but it fits too perfectly to pass up. I AM SELF-TAUGHT AND I DON'T KNOW THE PROPER NAMES FOR EVERY PART ON THE MACHINE, but I do know how to fix my machines and keep them running well, not perfect but well. I feel like to get real input I should refrain from posting until I know every part by heart or write my posts from now on with a manual next to me.

                          I wrote that as a courtesy to people who asked what caused my problem not to be scrutinized for it sorry for coming off hostile.

                              Good for you. If you really want to learn the different parts of the pinsetters, look up the part names in the parts manual. We have also developed slang term for some of the parts.
                              Buckets = deck chutes.
                              Flag = moving deck/scissor latch.
                              Bastard shaft = you're on your own for that one; but we know what it is.
                              Shotgun = rake trip arm.
                              Mousetrap = the latch that sits on the shotgun.
                              Bazooka = the rake spring tube assembly. If it's tried to remove wrong, you'll find out why it has that name.
                              And so on.....

                              Also, for the best performing machines, develop a service schedule; and follow it according to the instructions in the service manual and on this website. Some of us here have been wrenching on these machines for an eternity, and are willing to freely share our knowledge.

                              I had a 4:1 go bad and I've never seen or done one before. Trying to search the depths of the forums, YouTube videos, it didn't seem too bad....

                              I’ve already repaired a a number of Franklin FE motors using the Bluffton-style end cap and terminal board kit (090-004-582)....

                              Is there a minimum dimension from the clutch face to the rivet.
