  • Black out from #10 moving deck jam

    Afternoon all

Came in today to find that a lane had blacked out last night from a #10 moving deck jam, but my pinchaser couldn't get the machine to come back on afterwards. I checked to see if there was anything jamming or broken (looked for anything visibly broken from the outside)... including lifting the turret and setting it back down a few times to see if the turret microswitch was loose, pulled the moving deck cable to check if the moving deck microswitch is loose, even checked the rear switch to see if it was loose and got nothing. I've checked all switches (masking unit, mechanic, circuit breaker, loose power cord, breaker in the electrical box) and got nothing. Pulled out the voltage meter to check the voltage of key points on the TS-2 as follows:

    TS2 6 to 9 Main Power 27v
    TS2 5 to 9 Rear Switch 27v
    TS2 3 to 9 Turret Jam Switch 27v
    TS2 2 to 9 Deck Jam Switch 27v

    Where else should I check?

We have Qubica/AMF BES scoring and have the motor start relay cube upgrade installed on that lane. Wiring looks solid in the electrical box (no visible loose wires).

Is there voltage at the coil of the motor start relay?

Confirm fuses are good using your meter to check them. look at position of pin in the moving deck control cable tube to see if it is contacting the moving deck micro switch. My guess is that a bind is preventing moving deck from reaching its forward most travel .

        Readings look good.
Double check the masking unit switch and the managers control switch at the counter
if you don't have override switches in the back.

Check the voltage at the MSR.

        Post back results

Ever go through every complicated step you can think of to find that the "power isn't plugged in?" Well, the masking unit harness by the electrical box was loose... not totally separated, but close enough. Pressed it together and boom, all good.

thank you for your help and now I'm going to go eat a hand grenade... good day

Hahaha! I just saw this response from last year! So much changed since then. But, not bad... sounds like a heavy drink! Might have to try that one now I'm FM of another center. Sometimes we have those days ya know?

Same thing nipped us in the butt a few times. We put small zip ties around them to keep the harnesses together.

After getting called in for a 'phantom blackout', I did the same thing across the house.

It always seemed to happen when a pinchaser was getting deadwood or doing a respot. Our scoring cables and such ran from top of machine across to curtain wall, and they always wanted to grab them when getting down in front of machine. Funny how they could never get it to power up after removing LOTO.

LOL we've all been there. I learned to always check the simple things first.

                        Good morning,
I have built a tester for the MP Chassis for the 82-70 machines. Instead of using the cam switches
I am using relays. My question is to anyone that may...
