  • Kegel ball preference modification kit

I was just wondering if any of you guys have installed one of these kits yet. The price seems to be very reasonable for the parts it replaces and can help resolve the potental headaches the factory preference system can cause. I think it was just introduced since it's not in the summer 2012 printed catalog.

    Haven't seen/used anything like that.

Any type of modification to the regular preference system should not be needed if
Everything is adjusted and working properly.

If your having problems with your preference system post here and we'll help you.
Go with what works and not what the book says.

There are a few modifications to the original ball preference system. This additional bracket makes for a more positive lock/unlock, as it keeps the ball stop spring moving over the centerline.

The bracket is simple in construction. It's 1 1/2 inches in length; 3/4 inch wide; with two 1/4 inch holes 1 inch center to center. It can be made from 1/16 inch bar stock.

I like the idea of eliminating the silver barcket from the original design. It wears a section of the return track support arm if the bracket isn't kept lubricated...I like the idea of eliminating the need for the lubrication. Not sure about the rest of it as I don't end up with issues after installing the bracket that Tom posted above. I might try one just to see how well it works.

I agree Steve. That cheap little silver bracket can cause major damage to the ball track support, even when lubricated over time. It looks to me that all the oilite bearings and roll pins have been eliminated too. To me that's worth the price of the kit right there; no more trying to press those oilites and pins in without distorting the shape of the black bracket. Another benefit is the small plastic / bronze pivot block for the pref rod has been eliminated too. The small roll pin always seems to fall out of the white nylon blocks. I'm going to order one up today and give it a try.

          *sigh* Hello friends..
