  • maintence questions?

i have been at my center for a few years now and the first thing i did was change the oil in all the gearboxs.
    but my questions are.
when should the oil be replaced?
how often do the clutchs need new shoes and facing?
i am planning my summer projects and these a few i have on the list.
    thank you for any input.

Usually on a yearly basis; however, if you have to replace any of the major gearbox assemblies, it's a good idea to drain the oil, make the repairs, and replace with fresh oil.

This is usually done by eye (observation). When the GB clutch starts to act in an unusual manner, it's a good time to rebuild the clutch assembly.

Possibly the best thing to do is use the Brunswick Service Manual. In it is a schedule of when things should be done. This includes inspections, oiling, adjustments, cleaning, etc. This is an ongoing process.

The summer season is an excellent time to do your major cleaning. Depending on the size of the house, take a small portion of the lanes on a daily basis, and give them a complete going-over. This will insure that your busy season will run as trouble free as possible.

The speed you run your machine is a factor. Clutches running A speed can go every other year vs an A2 speed machine would need yearly service.

i am running creepy speed. reason for asking is that nothing has been done since the head mechanic passed away back in 2002. i have however gone through and kept up with all my basic prevenitive maintence.
