Does anybody out there have an easy way to lower the elevator frame?

    Re: Elevator adjustment

    Billman:

I use a split rim tire tool (WHICH HAS A HOOK END ON IT), use it to pry up elevator, insert a maple or any other hardwood wedge, and use an air chisel to cut out washers, one at a time.
First time with the chisel may be trying, but with a little practice one can usually lower an elevator in ten to fifteen min.
Don't cut out bottom big washer, its there to clear the square on the carraige bolt.

      Neglected to mention:
Maintain 1/8 to 3/16" height between a straightedge, resting on carpet and carpet clamping plate, and the ball wheel- best measured with an allen wrench of the chosen size
