  • Deck Light Problems

We have one lane that for some reason or another the deck light shines dim. we have tried everything, checked all teh wiring, replaced the bulb, and just about everthing possible. We are getting ready to replace the unit. any ideas of what the problem could be?

I am assuming you have already changed the ballast? I am not great on electrical but I believe the power for the light comes off the motor contactor, don't quote me on this but that's what comes to mind the last time I replaced the Allen Bradley contactor.

      Chaser,
Two things will cause this problem...both involve too little voltage to the bulb. Check the voltage at the input to the ballast. If it is correct, your problem is the ballast. If it isn't correct...trace it back to the electrical box and find where it is dropping. If you have 208 volt machines and your ballasts are 110, check to be sure your deck light is being powered from H5 of the transformer and not H4. Let us know what you find.

      Just my two cents worth...

Chaser, I have had similar problems. Usually its a loose or sloppy end connector. Either change the connector or rebuilt the old one. You can take it apart, clean it and straighten the little springs out, they get bent from use. It has worked well for me. Good luck. PJ

          Re: Deck Light Problems

Agree with all the above post...I had a problem a few years ago when we re-lamped the new daylight bulbs had a tough time comming on....to make a long story short we changed our bulbs at all centers to a F40SP65
bulb,we order it from graingers Part# 2F063 the cost are 3.99 ea.These bulbs seem to light up quick and easy. All of our pinsetter are 208v with 104v going to pin light. The color is close to the daylight color.

          Hope this helps
