  • NPS link bind

Have one machine that intermittently will stay on second ball after NPS operation in 10th frame. Solenoid plunger moves freely, it seems that the loop end of the link is wedging between the top of the spring and the bottom of the standing pins latch (not wedging between the front of the spring and the back of the latch, seen that one before).

Thinking about getting out a file, but just wanted to see if anyone else has a better idea on this:

New pin solonoid, used in auto scoring for fouls and tenth frame.

Very GOOD Roscoe,I see you still remember what NPS is for (LOL,LOL)

Kevin; try turning your link over or opening up the loop a little.

I'm not sure but it sounds like the same problem I was having and I had to drill a hole and put a stop in so the solinoid wouldn't come back as far resulting in less movement so it wouldn't go far enough to get into a bind.

Sorry about the really late post here (new guy), but I have the solution to this one. Remove the plunger from the NPS and grind 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch off of the back of the longest part of the plunger. You know, the part that goes into the coil. Our center had this problem too and it had something to do with a residual magnetic field in the coil/plunger holding it back. I ground them down and have had no more problems since. Maybe this will help others with this problem too..

What BrunsAce said is true...I've never had this problem with an NSP but I've seen it many times with MOTOR START RELAYS, POWERLIFLT RELAYS etc...they become magniticed and even though the power is cut from them...they won't let go...on said relays, a piece of scotch tape solves the problem...but also with the relays, it's a simple contact and release motion...on a NPS there is so much friction happening that I doubt it would last for could be a quick fix in the middle of a tournament though.
