  • Pit cushion headache

Having a problem with one machine, where the cushion travels back too far. Ball impact binds the cushion follower links against the ball wheel guard.

Changed Ball wheel guard to different style (both the urethane/plastic kind), no help

    Changed cushion shock, no help

Removed ball wheel guard, it actually jammed against the guard bracket once after that.

Obviously a case of excess travel, but I've never seen this one before ...

It's on the 7 pin side, jetbacks w/shotgun+cable triggering

Thanks for any input you can give guys, I'm stumped, but I'm looking at the rake shock next, pass along any other thoughts you might have:

    Re: Pit cushion headache

Kevin, I would change the entire support arm assembly itself. Sounds like a bind in the links and a weak shock, maybe even bind some where in the tri-plates.

      Re: Pit cushion headache

Kevin, I am wondering if there might be a structual problem. (Cushion support arm bracket slipped backwards in the slots, or maybe in your case the u-brackets that attach to the uni-strut on the top of the kickback) Sorry, not much help here!!

        Hey Kevin
Maybe your rear frame assy is not plumb and leaning a little forward.
I think where the long bolts go through the spacer on the upper rear frame feet actually go through slotted holes.
You might be able to loosen these 2 bolts and the lower locknuts by the ball wheels and lossen the cross conyeror j bolts and the motor mount bolt.
The rear frame might settle or have someone help it back a little and then start re-tightening from the top bolts on down.
        Just a thought.\

I have seen this ever time we install machines...(what a Pain). Most of the time I would drop rake, then loosen the 4 aluminum cushion arm hangers and let the hangers piviot to when they wanted to go...then retighten. This took care of most of the problems, if it didn't I would switch the piviot assy to another lane.

          Hope this helps
