Ok.I was always taught to r&r clutches yearly...ok no prob. Question:On the bronze bushing that rides on the drive disc you use a light coating of grease right??The place i'm at now uses...only oil.,which has caused the bushings to wear out so i've had to replace them.I was always told use grease never oil.Am i correct or is there a new way of doing this i am not aware of?

I've always used a light film of grease also... don't think oil would stay put in that application myself:

Same routine, tear them all down for a good cleaning and inspection every June, that usually keeps them humming

The bushing should be greased in this application. The current bushing that Brunswick is selling is a harder metal bushing. They did away with the bronze style on the new pulley bearing assys. Oil wouldn't last the full year on that metal.
The bronze ones were made harder than a normal bronze bearing and isn't designed to be lubricated as a regular bronze bearing would be. So grease would be the way to go here.

And you have answered your own question...you are seeing that oiling the bushing causes them to wear out. Time to change the routine.
