  • SHOOTING PINS

One or two times a nite lane 17 shoots pins down the lane. the rake gets stuck behind the deck. [collapsable rake crank]adjustid the rake height, rake cam, and the shotgun.still the same.

Sounds like either something is unlocking the shotgun or it is not relocking in the first place, but in any event the rake safty stop should keep the rake from catching behind deck.Check your safty stop adjustment at 180.

Definitely get the safety stop adjusted properly, so the rake doesn't get caught on the tailplank any more.

Otherwise, it sounds like your shotgun is going bad. Take it out of the machine, and holding it horizontal, push it in as hard as you can. Odds are, you'll get it to unlatch in your hands about 1 out of 5 times.

Guns that fail intermittently will keep getting worse, so it's time to re-build it. I usually change the steel shaft, all the bronze bushings and spacers, the special x pin and mousetrap plate if they're worn. Make sure all the bolts inside it are straight, they have been know to bend. Be sure you have ALL the parts you'll need before you start, unless you've got a spare one ready to go in. (I keep a spare ready to go in at all times, you never know when one's about to go bad)

Check the bolts that hold the bearins in place. I have found over use the bolt becomes bent will not put the right preasure on the bottom bearing for the notch. Also check your gap at 90 degrees. Have a happy holiday. PJ

The safety stop was out of adjustment and the shotgun was worn fixed both works great thanks.
