  • A Mind Boggling Ball Wheel Problem

Ok, we have one lane, if you put enough pressure on the ball wheel,it will stop the ball whell, shaker board and pin wheel. literally and a 14-16 pound bll does a godo job of it? What is going on here, dont see probs with the belts.

Re: A Mind Boggling Ball Wheel Problem

You may want to check the tensioner pulleys for both the ball wheel belt, but more importantly, the motor to back end belt. The idler for the motor-to-back end belt is mounted on a 9/16th bolt (the nut is an 11/16th I think) behind the large pulley directly behind the gearbox. You have to take the m-t-be belt, and the large pulley off as well to get to it. Many times the bushing that goes over the mounting bolt that is supposed to glide freely inside the oilite bearing gets all mucked up with corrosion and grease/oil that has broken down. You have to take the idler off, remove the bushing, and clean the snot out of it to get it to move freely. Sounds like the idler isn't keeping enough tension on the belt to keep the back end running.
    Hope that does the trick.

The long term cost of inaction is greater than the percieved short term convenience.
