  • Dumb Question

Ok...I have a dumb question. Why would the motor contact relay affect the pin light? Does it send the voltage to the light as well? Im assuming that it sends voltage to the 'motor'...it being a 'motor start relay'. Also...if it disallowed the pin light to light, wouldnt it also disallow the motor to start?

    Thanks...rob

    Re: Dumb Question

In most cases the contactor uses one set of contacts for the motor, cycle solonoid, and selinium rectifier. The other for the light.

If one contact went bad, it could affect either the light or the motor. Some older contactors had a microswitch mounted to them fo control the lighe. If this switch went bad, the light would fail. The really old contactors had 3 poles. 1 for the motor, 1 for the light, and one for the other stuff.

I think this is right. If not, I'm sure someone will correct me.

        Re: Dumb Question

The motor "start relay" does not power the motor. The motor contactor does. Not sure if you just used the wrong word or what. The motor "contactor" powers the motor and other high voltage devices. There is a difference between the two. And to answer your question...the motor start relay can't effect the deck light without effecting the motor.
