  • deck shield front bolt

We have a program going to put deck shields back on all the machines. I was putting one on the other day and discovered that the threaded bolt hole on the stationary deck was all tore up and the bolt wont go in and take hold. Have any of you had this same problem? What ideas are out there to fix this? I have thought about drilling out a bigger hole and then mount a plug in in the hold and then drilling a hole in the plug and threading it. I dunno. I figure one of you guys has a better idea. Thanks.

    Re: deck shield front bolt

Auto parts store, ask for heli-coil kit of the appropriate threads (pretty sure it's 1/4-20, but someone will correct me if wrong)

Comes with drill bit, tap, and tool to insert coil. You'll take longer going to the store and getting the part than making the repair:

This is the way to go...and Kevin, as usual, you are right...1/4-20.
