Does anyone have any ideas about reinforcing the pit board in the front corners where the clamps grab? Seems that is where our pit boards always start to fail first-- the wood on the corners crack and split up.
I remember years ago we tried to fasten some sheet metal or metal flashing on the board, before glueing the carpet, only to eventually get ball damage when the metal started to wear and fatigue.
We've got a couple of old boards that are solid that we are ready to glue new carpets on. It would be nice if there was some sort of tough plastic? material, in the shape of a "U", that we could snug onto the board, before carpet is glued.
