• Rubber Scissor Stops

Has anybody tried using cut up rubber hose or anything similar to replace the sponge rubber scissor stops. I have a LOT to change during deck o/hauls & they are hard to find in the UK. Ideas please.

Most mechanics use whats called in the states, "heater hose". Can't remember what size works best either 3/4" or 5/8". If your going to split the stationary deck you can slip them on the posts. Or you can cut them opem and slip them on with a little contact cement just to shutup the scissor slap at 270

That's a neat idea. What about using super glue on the rubber hose?

Never tried super glue, seems it would be to brittle. Have used 4" wire ties as a test to see how long they lasted. As long as the tie is high enough up the hose so the scissor missed it they work good but you must cut the hose pieces a little longer.

I like contact cement, it makes good finger boogers.
