  • turret rings

    ok ive rebuilt alot of turrets and i was wondering is it better to grease or oil turrets yes grease is better but gets gunked with dust and crap. and oil runs down on the indxing cam causing the belt to squeal what do you guys think????? JB

      If you are having trouble with oil running down to the turret indexing cam, then you are probably using too much. I think the manual says that you should use 4 drops of oil weekly. Another thought.....if you oil the rings on a regular basis, then you can wipe off the oil already present on the indexing cam.

        From what I was told you should never use grease.. cause it will cause the part to freeze up so that only leaves oil left to use [img]/content/btubb/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif[/img]
        nothing better then duck tape and bailing wire LOL

          I have rebuilt several that were greased. What a mess.

          They used grease because they diddn't have a turret jig. the grease held the ball bearings in place for reassembly.

          I believe it is 2 drops of oil per hole. Also remember to keep the felt ring damp with oil.

            When rebuilding turret rings, Put your bearings In a cup of oil before you reassemble.
