HELP ME ELECTRICAL PROB

so here we go.

Straigh A's i have two machines that when they are turned on from the desk they cannot be turned off on the mechanic's switch on the back of the machine. i have replaced the motor start relay on lane 8 becuase it wouldn't even come on before that change. any help will do

This print of the low voltage side is for 208 machines, but others will be real similar:



As you can see, the rear switch ~should~ be wired between terminals 6 and 5 on the low voltage strip. Also, all switches should be in series, so that they all must be on for the machine to run. Either someone has a switch wired parallel, or possibly the switch itself has stuck closed.

First, I guess, would be to find the leads to the rear switch and verify they are on the right terminals. Then take one wire from the rear switch off its terminal, and see if the machine will stay off. If so, switch is bad.

While you're in there, would be a good idea to verify that masking unit, deck and turret jam switches are functioning ... in case someone's bypassed a whole bunch of stuff:

Found the problem thats for all of your help

it was the mechanic's on / off switch on the back was bad i found it the other day when i went to turn it off and lane 5's 1/2 ball light stayed on :-) GOTCHA

On #9 in our center, when we would shut the machine off, the 1-2 ball light would stay on. That problem turned out to be the little spring clip was missing on the motor start relay contacts that have to do with the 1-2 ball lights. Our machines are A-2 so might be different on A machine. For whatever it is worth.
