  • Deck Rebuild

Have a question about the deck spring. I am rebuilding a deck and was wondering how many turns to put on the deck spring. When I took it apart it turned one full turn. Is that enough or should it have more? Thanks for any help.

Yes, one full turn clockwise is all you need.

      Re: Deck Rebuild

If you put more turns than one...you will cause undo stress to be applied to the moving deck/scissor cam. This in turn can cause you to loose the key/keyway on the 1:1. I have worked on a few machines that have lost the 1:1 and found the deck too tight from 2 turns on the shaft. I guess some mechanic somewhere sometime thought more was better...not always... Thanks for the help, just wanted make sure. Other than screwing up the 1:1, could that also be a cause for a cracked main deck?
