  • 82 30 help needed

Last night while doing normal service, lane 2 shut down tripping breaker on chasis. Checked entire machine for binds or a shorting wire. Nothing. I kept turning breaker off and on until machine stayed on. While cranking table back to zero, i turned around to notice chasis was smoking! I need 8230 chasis and a chasis repair. i also need a mechanic to come out and help me troubleshoot this pinsetter. I am located in south jersey approximately 10 minutes from Cherry Hill, N.J. This is not a bowling center. It is a senior center with only 2 lanes and the facility is used quite often for birthday parties and social gatherings. I need this repaired as soon as possible. I am by trade a 82-70 mechanic but have worked on 30's off and on for over 10 years. I know my way around a pinsetter, but this has me stumped. No binds, no noticable wires shorting out. When i swapped out chasis, machine still kept shutting down. Though i smoked the chasis, the problem is in the pinspotter. I welcome any verbal or written ideas, but if you would like to make a few extra bucks selling me 2 chasis's or selling 1 and repairing another as well as coming out to help me troubleshoot this, i will pay cash. Feel free to call me at 1-856-313-6942, reply on this forum, or email me at [email protected].

    Thanks,

    Bob

Gotta think you have a wire in the channel causing the machine to black out. Not sure you have fried the chassis, but if you need one, give me a call. I think I can get you one. I can also check that chassis out if you could send it to me. Tons of shipping but you gotta do what you gotta do..

yOU PROBABLY HAVE A GROUND IN THE BLACK OUT CIRCUIT IN THE TABLE WIRING COMING FROM J18. IF SHORTED WILL TRIP THE CIRCUIT BREAKER IF BREAKER IS GOOD.YOU SHOULD CHECK THE LOW VOLTAGE CIRCUIT BREAKER EVERY SEASON ON ALL CHASSIS.JUST SIMPLY GROUND OUT COIL OF SWEEP OR TABLE RELAY IF YOU GROUND OUT ONE SIDE RELAY WILL PULL IF YOU GROUND OUT OTHER SIDE IT SHOULD TRIP THE BREAKER.iF BREAKER DOESNT TRIP IN SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME IT WILL SMOKE T1 TRANSFORMER.ALSO MAKE SURE SW1 SWITCHES WORK.

The front ball returntkes its swtch on signal from j18 also. There should be 2 wires connected to j18. Disconnect the 2 wires, 1 should go to the wireway to the P box and the other will probably be routed out of the j box and then down to the subway and up to the ball return. Reconnect the wire that goes to the p box and turn the machine on. If it shorts out then it is in the off spot wiring. If it doesn't short then disconnect it and reconnect the other wire and repeat. If it is in the ball return cable it will probably be easier to run a new cable. Ue the old cale to pull the new one through.
          Regards,

          Len.

          *sigh* Hello friends..
