  • pins falling out of pin wheel

We are having trouble with pins falling out of toggle assemblies to early. The pins will fall out onto the distributor pan and cause misfeeds. The pins are new but only having this problem with two lanes. Any suggestions on how to adjust these.

Loosen the bolts on the pinfeed solenoid assembly and slide it towards the backend motor on both machines. This will make the toggles open a little later.

Are the pins falling out before the toggle opens?

There is a 3m tape that is used on the Brunswick ball wheel I think the part number is v-100ss it comes in a six foot roll. Just clean your pin wheel and cut the tape into 4 inch lengths and put it in the pinwheel across from the toggle tip. I had the same problem with new pins and remembered that product from a short stint in a Brunswick center

There was a previous thread on this somewhere about this and a few mechanics have shimmed out the heals with 3/8 plywood or washers. There is another product like the 3m tape called "solve it-traction strip", comes in various roll lengths and this also works very well

Are the pins falling out before they reach the dist. or after? The 3m tape I mentioned earlier will stop them from falling out after the dist. I've never seen them fall out before the dist.

How about checking the toggle tips?

I have used finger tip inserts on the toggle before, they hold the pin a little longer.

Here is a link to some shim work and shifting of blocks in pin wheel that worked great for us.

The shim help to center the hold on pin and the shift tightens up the the slop.

Have you cleaned the new pins? Could be that they have a mold release film on them and that would make them very slippery.
