  • Stepper wont step

Ive a chassis on the bench that wouldn't step (no voltage at coil)
I noticed the interrupt contacts point weren't touching (Someone had tried to bent up but failed)

I replaced the Interrupt contact now coil hums

Tried adjusting the top ratchet pawl arraignment but just hummed (vibrated) more??

    What am I missing

How much voltage do you have at the stepper? Might be a bad rectifier not giving the stepper enough voltage.

The stepper realy coil is primarily controled by the stepper's contact bank and wiper assemblies. If they are dirty enough the relay wont pull in. You can try some contact cleaner on them see if the condition improves.

I'm inclined to go with the rectifier. The coil is 90 volts dc. If you are getting a humm, could be AC voltage. But, if you jump the interruptor for a few seconds, the coil should pull in and stay in. If it does, it's in the same interruptor you changed - not a good connection when closed.
If this is happening at 0, the home points (on top) may not be making good contact.
This post is not an unpaid promotion of my business.

          Good morning,
I have built a tester for the MP Chassis for the 82-70 machines. Instead of using the cam switches
I am using relays. My question is to anyone that may...

          4:1 Timing off..

          *sigh* Hello friends..

I had a 4:1 go bad and I've never seen or done one before. Trying to search the depths of the forums, YouTube videos, it didn't seem too bad....

Left a rant about this in the bowling forum…
