  • Reusable plug dams?

So I use mostly one size of oval and round plug dams and am wondering if the reusable dams that can be bought by size are worth the cost? I have probly close to 4 boxes of the "left over" sizes, I started using some that were too big just to finally use them...seems like a waste anyway. I am over stocked on no grips finger dams and weight hole/kids thumb dams and want to order what I'll use the most... any suggestions?

green damn is the only one I know of. also you can use modeling clay its cheap and reusable.

I cut them and stick them to the ball and seal the join with tape to stop it leaking, especially useful for repairing odd shaped holes that the largest dams wont cover, like when the fingers crumble.

Donkey plug also makes the reusable damns, but modeling clay works great or plumbers putty if you have trouble finding modeling clay, build the size damns needed and pour. Scrape damn off and reuse for next ball.

I made my own reusable dams, and John from Innovative has them. Not cheap but resuable for at least 100 times, and thumb and fingers can be plugged the same time. Saves material also.

I hated using plasticine... the number of times I cut myself on the plugging...

Thanks everyone for the ideas. I am curious with the reusable dams which size oval will cover fingers w/ grips, and what size circle would cover 1 1/4 slug hole? Would they both be the large size? Thanks again

I never order round dams, I just use the ovals and make them round.

Iv'e tried them before and the few times they do not seal are not worth my time to deal with them.

plummers putty works well to. ive used it probably more than anything else and its shapeable and you can reuse it and shape it in to crevises like lettering and labels, never had a problem with leaks or anything.

I got a question about these because I am running low and was wondering if shelling out the cash to get them if it would be worth it.... how do the damned resuable dams adhere to the surface like the foam ones?

Just with a piece of duct tape.

They don't. The weight of the dam and the Vaseline create the seal.

Kanga hit the nail on the head, you must smear vaseline on the inside and bottom of the dam to get a good seal

I had a 4:1 go bad and I've never seen or done one before. Trying to search the depths of the forums, YouTube videos, it didn't seem too bad....
