You know, if my dog was as ugly as you. I'd shave his butt and tell him to walk backwards

I seriously hope I never take a picture of myself like this! I don't think I would be composed enough to snap the picture myself!

Try to look on your slightly mutilated finger as being the sign of being a real man.

This is nothing to be proud of, and I don't think that PJ is showing it because he is proud of it happening. I am quite sure that he would have prefered for this to not happen. I hope it is an attempt to show what can happen in the blink of an eye if you are not paying attention, and that if it can happen to a seasoned mechanic with as much experience as PJ it can happen to anybody.

That finger is not a manly badge.....it is a very nasty injury that may have been avoided. I think I see bone. Ouch.

I am not sure specifically how it happened, but i have cleaned conveyor belts with a rag in the past from the back of the elevator. I havn't done it in a long time and probably never will after seeing that picture (whether this is the way the injury was caused or not) because this is what can happen if the rag pulls your finger into the pulley. Much safer to clean a running conveyor belt from the top cneter of the cross conveyor so that you are nowhere near the pulleys.

How did this happen PJ? Just asking because it may save some fingers in the future

I was eating when I saw that.

It's a great deterrent for cleaning the CC belts from the rear, if that's why it happened.

All the best for a speedy recovery PJ.

Must have been a very sharp pulley edge. The docs might even take some skin from elsewhere to cover that. Don't suppose they asked about saving the severed end on ice?

Ouch! Another good eye-opener to the rest of us regardless of what machines we wrench on. Don't get complacent especially when doing something you've done 'a million times before'.
